Tripp Halstead – Biography
Tripp Hughes Halstead was born in Georgia on September 11, 2010. He is the only child of his mother Stacy and his father Bill Halstead. Her parents first met in 2006 and their meeting was made possible by a mutual friend. After a short time, they got married in 2007 in Asheville, North Carolina. When it was time to raise children, Bill and his wife moved to Georgia, where Stacy’s family resides, including her sister Crystal. Tripp was later conceived with the help of a fertility specialist. Although Stacy had a terrifying pregnancy, it was still a happy time for her after about two years of trying to conceive. Nine months later, the little boy was welcomed into the Halstead family. What happened to him?
It all started on October 29, 2012, when, like every other day, Stacy brought her son to daycare called Cribs to Crayons. There was a strong wind from Hurricane Sandy and the toddler was outside the daycare playing with the rest of the children when suddenly a tree branch broke loose and fell directly on him. Unconscious, Tripp was first rushed to a local hospital, then airlifted to a children’s hospital in Atlanta and doctors discovered he had severe brain damage. his swollen brain shut down his whole body. The surgeries were performed with little faith in his survival. But Tripp survived after all.
While waiting for her recovery from Katie Riney, a friend of Stacy’s, decided to create a Facebook page on which she told Tripp’s story. As expected, the news covered all of Atlanta. With over a million people following her story, Katie has made sure to keep the world up to date on her wellbeing. The news was quickly relayed by cable media. With the news spreading, Tripp had millions of Americans praying for her speedy recovery and her parents mostly enjoyed the support of unknown people who told her story in the media.
Tripp survived the initial surgeries but still had too many swellings in his internal organs. After years of treatment, he finally learned to speak again in 2015. He spent about a month in the intensive care unit before being transferred to a rehabilitation center in the city. For the first time in several months, Stacy and Bill were able to hold their child in their arms, play with him and even feed him. The couple sold everything they had, including their home in Winder, to meet their son’s hospital bills, take care of his special needs and buy his wheelchair. Various charities have sprung up to support the Halsteads. Among them, “Ride to Give,” launched by Kaete Nazaroff, raised more than $200,000 for Tripp. Tripp returned home with his parents and maternal grandparents Larry and Connie on March 29, 2013, for the first time since the crash. He had undergone more than twenty surgeries.
How did he die?
Everything was almost settled for the HalsteadsTripp has regained his health five years after the horrific incident on October 29, 2012. His smiles, guffaws and giggles were more frequent and he even went back to school. Reality finally set in when Stacy discovered that her son was having difficulty breathing. Once again he was taken to hospital in Atlanta where doctors found that his left lungs were cloudy and required bronchial lavage (bronchoscopy). Once again, Stacy updated her fans on Tripp’s Facebook page, but unbeknownst to her followers, that was all they would hear about the child before the sad news of her death.
Tripp Halstead died around 5:47 p.m. on March 15, 2018, after being transferred to Children’s Health Center Atlanta (CHOA). According to the doctor’s report, he died of pneumonia or mucus in the lungs. Trip died when he was just seven years old. Her mother confirmed her death on Facebook and on various cable channels that followed her story.
